My research is situated at the intersection of media psychology and political communication. Broadly, my work seeks to understand the widespread ramifications of social media use. Alongside my collaborators, I have published 15 articles in scholarly, peer-reviewed journals. In addition, I have recently published two book reviews in Mass Communication and Society and Journal of Communication Inquiry. My empirical research has been published in journals such as Social Media + Society, Mass Communication and Society, and Journal of Communication in Healthcare.
I have been fortunate enough to travel around the world presenting my research. I have had 18 conference papers accepted since starting at BU in 2019 and have presented at International Communication Association (ICA), Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), Association of Internet Researchers (AOIR), American Political Science Association (APSA), International Association of Mass Communication Research (IAMCR) and Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco (SRNT).
I am a member of the International Communication Association (ICA) and Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). I have formerly served as the Teaching Chair and Vice Head for the Commission on Graduate Student Education of AEJMC and am currently the Head of the Commission.
